In the parking lot we saw parents dropping off 2 kids (20 yo). Later we spoke to the parents and they told us the kids had hiked there from GA. They had just taken some zero days with mom and dad.
Pat hiked the first half mile with me. Later when Pat got back to the car she sent me a text: "Don't pick up any strange women." This was she had said to me when we were first dating and I was leaving on a business trip. It signaled the first sign of commitment between us.
The first days hike was mostly flat, 8.2 miles to the tumbling run shelters.
I passed university of Richmond girl sitting at a picnic table near a different shelter during the day wearing shorts with her legs wide open. She engaged me in conversation and I mentioned Julie and CNU then quickly moved on.
When i got to the Tumbling run shelters...
It's really quiet here, there a 4 of us in 2 shelters and the other 3 are sleeping already 730pm.
The twin shelters are named snoring and non-snoring.😅
Later...
Had the bad shivering about 9pm, Painful. Stayed deep in my sleeping bag till it passed. I think it's from "adrenal fatigue". It was over by 11:15 and now I have my sleeping bag open and am conformable. I'm going to drink more water before bed and eat dinner over several hours to see of that helps tomorrow.
